Animation Nation, a festival of animation works organised by the Singapore Film Society,  announced a new short film category – in collaboration with DreamWorks channel – for the 2025 ANSEA Awards in addition to an Open category. This initiative aims to celebrate and showcase the diverse talents of filmmakers across the ASEAN region, providing them with a platform to express their creativity through the medium of animation.

ANNETTE CRYAN [For DreamWorks Category]



Multi-Media Creative Director / On Air Brand Director

DreamWorks Animation Network / NBCUniversal

 

Annette  is an award-winning multi-media Creative Director at the DreamWorks Channel, overseeing 10 channels in 13 languages across more than 100 countries.


With over 20 years of experience in the media industry, she has led art direction and branding initiatives and played a key role in shaping innovative content strategies for numerous global media brands. Her diverse portfolio includes international 360° promotional campaigns, Roblox activations, interactive video technology, SVOD and VR.

Passionate about the intersection of creativity and technology, Annette continuously explores new ways to push the boundaries of storytelling and audience engagement.



BRANDON OLDENBURG


Brandon Oldenburg is an Academy Award-winning film director (The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. MorrisLessmore), designer and immersive storyteller. Besides the Oscar, Brandon has received multiple Emmys and Gold Lions including the Grand Prix, and a host of other industry accolades. Speaking of hosts, Brandon once hosted a show onTCM, Movie Camp.

 

Brandon co-founded Reel FX animation, Moonbot Studios and Flight School Studio, all leaders in animation and emerging technology.

 

Brandon’s most recent executive production, Lost Ollie, which did beautifully at the Emmys winning five of its 10 nominations.


RODNEY UHLER


Rodney Uhler is a Development Consultant for GKIDS, where he currently manages key active feature film projects. He previously served as the Director of Acquisitions and Development at GKIDS for 9 years, where he oversaw all title acquisitions and managed studio relations for the acclaimed animation distributor.


He also served as the Programming Director for the Animation is Film Festival, the annual Los Angeles animation film festival which is produced by GKIDS, Annecy and Variety. Previous experiences involve programming and curations for notable museums and film festivals.


JINNY H.J. CHOO


H.J. Jinny Choo is an artist, educator, and curator specializing in animation and digital art. She holds a Ph.D. in Animation Theory and Content Producing from Chung-Ang University and has been teaching at Korea National University of Arts since 2009.


A programmer for Seoul Indie Ani-Fest and a member of the ACM SIGGRAPH Nominations Committee, she explores animation’s role in technology, therapy, and immersive storytelling.


She has served as Conference Chair for SIGGRAPH Asia 2020, held multiple program chair roles, and been a jury member for various international animation festivals. Beyond academia, she has directed short films and produced eight relay animations with international young talents. With 25+ years of experience in animation curation, production, and teaching, she continues shaping animation as an artist and educator.
